How do I check a number’s source?
Move from a metric to its period, formula, sources and missing evidence.
Updated: 24 August 2026
Before you start
- a visible result or metric
Steps
- 1.Open number details or metric definition.
- 2.Review period, currency and organization.
- 3.Inspect the formula and cost layers.
- 4.Open sources and operation identifiers.
- 5.Review estimates and gaps before using the number in a decision.
Expected result
The number has visible provenance. If evidence is insufficient, the result remains partial or unavailable.
If something does not work
- A provider-dashboard difference can come from period, timezone, refunds or attribution.
- Include view and operation IDs when reporting a discrepancy.
